Beach Wedding Planning: Part 1 – The Ceremony

For some, getting to marry on a beach is the fairytale wedding they have been dreaming of.  If you fall into this category, there is a certain amount of planning you must be prepared for.  Beach wedding planning does not require more time than planning for a venue, say, in a hotel ballroom.  In some cases it may take less time to plan, however there are certain preparations you must be aware of.

First you must address the wedding guests.  Guests have the special privilege of watching a wedding with a gorgeous beach back drop which is very much a treat.  However, there special challenges when you are beach wedding planning.  For example guests with wheelchairs will be restricted to their access, something to consider before booking a venue.  Some guests may have a hard time walking in the sand; therefore you may want to have your attendants available to help seat guests comfortably. When beach wedding planning remember to pay close attention to the bathroom facilities.  Make sure they are close enough for your guests to use if needed, but not so close that beach goers are constantly interrupting your ceremony.  Beach bathrooms are notorious for being filthy so make sure your venue has cleanly facilities, and make sure they would be well stocked the day of your wedding.  If the venue is secluded enough you may want to bring some extra fresh flowers to leave in the bathrooms.

Also consider that by marrying on a public beach, you may have some uninvited beach goers crashing your ceremony.  You may want to block off the ceremony section with decorative poles and ribbons to try and dissuade uninvited guests from standing in the way of your pictures, however on a public beach you really would have no right to turn them away.  If you want to avoid these uninvited guests all together you may want to look into renting a private beach.
