Beach Wedding Planning: Part 3 – Other Tips, Tricks, and Advice

When beach wedding planning there are a lot of special obstacles to consider.  However, with a few preparations you will be assured that your gorgeous beach wedding will go off without a hitch.  Here are a few more tips and tricks and some advice to make the best out of your beach wedding.

A big consideration while you are beach wedding planning is to take into account the bugs and pests at your venue.  California is a wonderful location because we don’t have many bugs near the beach, however if your heart is set on Florida or another tropical destination you must beware.  To avoid infestation of bugs and other pests at your ceremony it is a good idea to make sure your wedding takes place during the dry season.  Winter and spring would be the optimal times to host your tropical wedding, however summer should be avoided at all costs. If possible check out your beach location during the time you are planning of having the ceremony.  Depending on the time of day, some beaches have strong glares off the water or horrible odors after the tide has gone out.  Personally I believe the perfect time for a beach wedding is right before sunset which will offer excellent photo ops.  Dolphins also often come closer to the shore during this time and would be a real treat for the wedding guests.  When you are beach wedding planning, make sure that you decide whether a you want an evening or morning wedding and plan accordingly.  I would suggest either late morning or sunset ceremonies to avoid annoying glare and foul odors.

Make sure that the beach wedding style is what you had in mind for your dream ceremony.  Typically a beach wedding will be more casual than a ceremony in a church.  Large “Cinderella” dresses may be very difficult in the sand.  Most brides go for simple sun dresses and grooms opt for khakis and a collared shirt.  Guests tend to dress more casual as well, typically khakis, Hawaiian shirts, or simple dresses.  If you want to keep the casual beach theme you may want to encourage your guests to wear shorts and flip flops.  Or if you want your wedding to be a bit more formal, make sure you specify attire on your wedding invitations.
